    The challenge

The Arcadia sanatorium in Odesa stands in a park that once belonged to the Paraskevas, a powerful Greek family. Today it is a state rehabilitation centre for mothers and children, and its land is exactly the kind that ends up under high-rise blocks.

    The solution

Architect David Pishchev has a plan to keep it: restore the estate and make it a place of recovery for military personnel and their families, and for everyone the war has hurt. We made the film that presents the plan, with the architect and the centre's director, Nataliia Odarii-Zakharieva, speaking in the park itself, and the project's masterplan and renders cut into the place they describe.

    Execution

Filmed in the sanatorium's park in early June 2024, among the old villas, the benches and the gardens. Interviews, the estate's details, the plans and the renders were edited and graded into one film with English subtitles.
